On Sunday November 3rd, AVPFirst will be hosting its 4th annual Serving Up Style fundraiser at the Paséa Hotel & Spa in Huntington Beach. This event combines the AVPFirst Wall of Champions Induction Ceremony with a stylistic fashion show featuring some of today’s biggest AVP Stars.
Because the mission of AVPFirst is to help grow the sport of beach volleyball by improving opportunities for youth in every community, we feel it is important to recognize the dedicated individuals who have both professionally and personally contributed to advancing the sport as well. This is what being in the Wall of Champions represents.
Previous inductees into the Wall of Champions include Todd Rogers, Sinjin Smith, and Misty May-Treanor.
This year, AVPFirst has the honor of adding 7-time AVP Champion and 2000 US Olympian Jenny Johnson Jordan and 2000 US Olympic Gold Medalist Dain Blanton to the Wall.
Following the induction ceremony will be the Fashion Show in which AVP athletes take the runway, sporting various looks from casual to athletic to formal chic. It’s a great time for AVP fans to be able to see their favorite athletes ditch their swimsuits for tailored suits and gowns while strutting down the catwalk. The evening begins with a cocktail reception featuring music, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction with items and packages donated by a variety of partners and supporters, all with the quintessential Southern California sunset as the backdrop.
All proceeds from the event will enable AVPFirst to continue to utilize the sport as a tool for positive youth development by funding programs in some of the most underserved communities across the country. This includes programs such as the free Community Corner clinic series, volunteer coaching education initiatives, and court construction projects, all of which bring beach volleyball to kids of all backgrounds, regardless of their socioeconomic status or the neighborhood in which they reside.
